Edinburgh tram has one route that connects Edinburgh Airport with York Place. The route has 15 stops, all of them are wheelchair accessible. The Edinburgh tram is very useful and efficient for travel to & from the City Centre, with it taking 35 minutes to get from Edinburgh Airport to Princes Street (the closest stop to the city centre). The first tram leaves the airport at 06:15, with the last at 22:45 - with a frequency of a tram every 8-10 mins (Monday - Saturday), 12-15 mins (Sunday). Fares vary, depending on zones travelled - with an airport ticket (Single/Adult) costing £6.50 per person, and a (Return/Adult) costing £9.00 per person - as of 11/03/2024. Tickets are purchased at the tram vending machines located at each tram stop. You will have to have the exact change or use a debit or credit card since the vending machines don’t give any change. Once you have bought your ticket you will need to validate it on the tram or Lothian bus (within 30 minutes of purchase). Don’t forget to buy your ticket before you get on the tram, otherwise you will have to pay a £10.00 on-board fare.
The Airlink bus (service 100) runs between the airport and the city centre, reaching Waverley Bridge railway station in 25 minutes. A single adult ticket costs £4.50 and an open return is £7.50. The route to and from the airport runs 24 hours a day every 10 minutes approximately.
