In December, I was Lucky enough to Travel to Lapland with my 3 kids, 7 year old twins and a 3 year old. The excitement the morning we were due to leave was unreal! We were met at the airport by Santa’s helpers who got us checked in gave goodie bags to the children. Even the flight was exciting with everything from face painting to Christmas sing-alongs.
Once we arrived in the North Pole, we were taken to get our Snow Suits and Boots. I’d recommend having stuff like gloves, hats and warm socks packed in a smaller, separate bag from your suitcase. Since we went straight to the Reindeer Village, this saved us from having to open suitcases in the snow!
The Reindeer Village included lunch on arrival, followed by reindeer rides, husky dog rides and snowmobiling! We returned to the hotel and checked in, then went for dinner. There was entertainment on offer at the hotel but we just had to be out in the snow so we went to a local park where the children made snow angels, had snow ball fights and went sledding down the snowy hills! We made memories to last forever.
This was all before we went to meet the main man in Santa Claus Village and cross the Arctic Circle.
We just went for the one-day trip, and it was truly amazing experience. But if I go again I would love to go for the 2 or 3 night trips as once you’re there, you don’t want it to end!
My one-night trip to Lapland was the magical holiday of a lifetime. At nearly 40 years of age, it was a dream come true for me, not to mention my kids who raved about it.
