Thinking of paying a visit to the City of Angels itself? One of the US’ most iconic urban sprawls, LA offers so much to see and do it can be hard to know where to start. There’s no other city quite like Los Angeles. A grid of streets covering a massive amount of land, LA’s rich array of sights includes the Hollywood Sign, famous movie studios, stunning beaches, sweeping mountains and so much more. It’s the perfect destination to find natural beauty and urban hustle and bustle.

Universal Studios Hollywood

One of LA’s most popular attractions, Universal Studios offers countless rides based on some of the most beloved movies and TV shows. You can get up close and personal with some of your favourite settings and characters. And visit the popular Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Disneyland Resort

Amazing for families and movie aficionados. See your favourite Disney characters and while you’re here check out the new Star Wars attractions.

Paramount Pictures Studios

Take a tour of this iconic studio’s 65-acre site where some of the most famous movies ever made have been created.

Warner Bros. Studios

Get a close-up look at movie sets and props like Central Perk from Friends and costumes from Harry Potter.

Sony Pictures Studios

This studio has a rich past as MGM Studios where truly iconic movie classics like The Wizard of Oz, Singin’ in the Rain and Ben-Hur were made. The lot is great for a leisurely tour of a couple of hours. You might see some celebrities walking around too.

Los Angeles is filled with theme parks beyond the obvious Disney and Universal Studios. From kid-friendly parks perfect for a day of family fun, to wild rides and thrills, you will find something to suit.

Legoland California Resort

This a real child-friendly destination. Everyone loves Lego so it’s sure to be a hit. Check out its pirate and knight-themed worlds, its Star Wars attractions and its Ninjago must-sees.

SeaWorld San Diego

If you feel like venturing beyond LA, go to San Diego to visit the home of world-famous whale Shamu. It also has tons of rides, slides and exhibitions. A great day out about 2.5 hours from LA.

Six Flags Magic Mountain

An adrenaline ride for older kids and grownups. Not so great for small children, though! Enjoy its heart-thumping rides and roller coasters.

Pacific Park

If you’re heading to Santa Monica Beach, you can’t miss Pacific Park. Enjoy everything this bustling spot has to offer from its Ferris Wheel to its cotton candy!

The Hollywood Sign

This has been a mainstay of this city since 1923. Getting close can be tricky but why not get a great view from Beachwood Drive or Lake Hollywood Park?

Griffith Observatory

This is one of LA’s most popular destinations. You really have to tick it off your list, especially if it’s your first visit. Up here, you’ll take in some truly stunning vistas of the whole city.

Santa Monica Pier

Tourist flock here to enjoy the seaside views and the fun vibe. There are tons of street performers, activities and shopping from quirky boutiques to high end brands.

Grand Central Market

This is a top foodie destination in Downtown Los Angeles. Find a huge range of food vendors representing cuisine from around the world.

The Original Farmers Market

Popular with both residents and tourists, the Farmers Market has its roots in the Great Depression and has grown into an LA icon. Entry is free but you’re sure to find something that tempts you.

Hollywood Walk of Fame & TCL Chinese Theatre

Synonymous with LA itself, these destinations are top attractions so they do get busy at peak times. But you can’t visit without seeing them!

Sunset Boulevard

This famous street is a legendary setting for many movies and a top thing to see while you’re in LA.

Venice Beach

This free-spirited neighbourhood is known for its culture, its quirky vibes, its skateparks, shops, murals, coffee joints and more.

Rodeo Drive

This upmarket shopping street is popular with celebrities and tourists alike.

So many parts of the city have been immortalised by the movie masterpieces made here, check some of them out.

  • The Bradbury Building, featured in Blade Runner
  • Rosenheim Manor, a filming location for Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Top museums to visit

Los Angeles County Museum of Art

This museum’s display of historic street lights right outside is a top destination, and inside you’ll find modernist masterpieces, sculpture and more. Don’t forget to include some in your holidays to Los Angeles.

Getty Centre

This complex of pavilions houses some great art – but it’s worth visiting for the views it offer alone. You can see the ocean in the west and down to Downtown in the east.

The Broad

Here, you’ll find masterpieces from pop art maestros Andy Warhol and Jeff Koons, as well as 2 installations by Instagram’s favourite Yayoi Kusama.

La Brea Tar Pits

These spectacular tar pits are home to a museum filled with prehistoric fossils found right here in LA.
